We are very proud to announce that in April, 2012 Dorset College signed a partnership agreement with one of the top universities of British Columbia, the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). In addition to our 7 University Transfer Programs, Dorset College, in partnership with UNBC, is now offering a “Bachelor’s of Science” in our University Transfer Program. This unique 4-year program allows students to experience the welcoming learning environment of Dorset College and celebrate the academic excellence at friendly and supportive UNBC.

Grouse Mountain Adventure

On March 09, Dorset College arranged a student, teacher and staff day at Grouse Mountain. Students, teachers and staff spent the day on Grouse Mountain Skiing & Snowboarding. The Ski or Snowboard package included a mountain lift ticket, equipment rental, a ½ hour lesson and lunch ! This year a total of 100 students and faculty participated in the event. It was a great opportunity for the students to experience local activities and culture.

It’s hard to know just how much of it will alter the behavior of those inclined to bully, but schools’ growing focus on the problem at the very least lets potential victims know there is support if they need it. Hundreds of students gathered last Monday at Grace F. Cole Elementary School in Norwell to kicked off Stand Up Youth Nation’s new anti-bullying campaign. The Brockton-based nonprofit aims to help South Shore children and teens who are dealing with social issues, including bullying, and Monday’s event in Norwell debuted a new approach to getting the anti-bullying message out. On November 18^th Mr. Shea McInnis, the Director of Marketing and Recruitment at Cape Breton University (CBU) gave a seminar at Dorset. University Transfer and Academic Preparation students were able to learn more about CBU and its programs.

Halloween Costume Contest

On Oct. 31^st, Dorset College held its first Halloween Costume Contest on campus. The students, teachers and office staff dressed up in amazing costumes. Everyone was able to vote for the best costume on our Dorset facebook page. The winner of the Best Halloween Costume was Robin Hood Girl and she received a $300 dollar scholarship.
